Abandoned
I admit I am a terrible blogger. I have no excuse except life got in the way. I have just been trying to stay afloat and keep the small humans healthy and happy and sometimes that doesn't happen. We are winding down our stay here in Maryland as Jayson works to finish up his residency. This experience makes dental school seem like a cake walk. We have been able to have some adventures since we have been here.I love the area but not necessarily the people or their politics. We have seen the monuments, done some of the museums, made the 4 hour trip to NYC, and we were even able to meet some of Jayson's family at Disney World the week before Christmas. The adventures we've had were awesome but they don't make up for the late nights Jayson has had to be away from home or the school functions I've attended on my own. What has helped get me through these trying times is remembering that this is only temporary. I am not saying my days are filled with sunshine and roses because just like any other person I have days where I am in a bad mood, feel sorry for myself or even just need a good cry. I am after all human and not perfect. So my goal is to do better, not be perfect but better. I'm not sure if better means everyday, once a week or even once a month blogging. I just know it means better.

What We've Been Up to or How We Have Spent the Fall
Back in September a patient gave Jayson a Texas Rangers helmet that W. left at Camp David. That was pretty cool, as you can tell by the picture.
Shortly after the leaves started raining down. Of course the girls needed to run and jump in them.

Halle rode her first school bus to her first field trip to Sharp's Farm. I got to go along as a chaperone. It was a fun and tiring day. We learned about honey bees,I fed a cow, which was pretty nasty, took a hay ride, picked pumpkins, ate lunch, did a corn maze, and picked our own popcorn. All in all it was a perfect day.

A week or so after the farm field trip Halle had a nature, walking field trip to the park down the street from school. That was also a lot of fun to see all of those kindergarten kids actively looking for nature. They took a walk where they listened for nature, used a bug catcher/magnifier to look at nature and jars to feel the water.

Hannah also took the same walking field trip but hers did not turn out so well. In fact it was pretty much a fiasco complete with an ambulance ride for a "lucky" 4th grade girl. I got no pictures of Hannah's trip because it was over before it really got started. The tour guide took 50 something 4th graders passed a hive of bees and that is when all heck broke out. Over 10 kids were stung some more than once, including a little girls that is allergic. So out came the epi pen and a phone call to the paramedics. Myself and Hannah's teacher were stung. This is only the second time I have ever been stung and all I can say is it hurt BAD and for a LONG time. After all the excitement we called it a day and headed back to school.
